Introduction For our practice today, we’re going to work with a prayer that came through…
Asking for Healing Guidance for a Distressed Part of Ourselves
For our practice of the day, we’re going to tune into our inner guidance, with a particular focus. The focus is tuning into a part of us that is perhaps not working as well as we’d like it to. Some ailment, some disease, some pain — and seeing what our guidance can tell us about what else we might be able to do for that part of ourselves.
Sometimes these ailments, diseases or pain are connected to inner parts of ourselves. They may reflect some part of our being that’s going through a shift — something changing in our life – a new way of being. A different location, a new partner, different work, or adjusting who we are so that we are more in alignment with our inner purpose — that part may be speaking to us, giving us a message.
What does that part need? A different therapy or a different therapist? Less use? More warmth, more cold? More attention or support? Less of something? More of something else?
It’s a matter of tuning in and asking our guidance what this part is asking for — what we can do to help it heal a little better.
We’ll put our hands on that part of the body if we can reach it. If not, we simply feel as though we’re touching it. We’ll be chanting: Hadi, Shafi, Kafi. Hadi — divine guidance. Shafi — divine healer. Kafi — divine healing energy.
We’ll chant, then do a breath practice, followed by a meditation. First, we’ll get the tone going for a bit. Place your hands on the part of you that is being challenged. That’s where we direct the attention of our inner being — where we ask the question.
We’ll start chanting, Hadi, Shafi, Kafi. Place your hands where you need them.
After chanting for a while, we move to the breath practice – Inhaling Hadi, Shafi, Kafi. Exhaling Hadi, Shafi, Kafi. Breathing into the part of you that’s asking for healing and guidance.
Whether it is your neck, back, knee, or ankle — breathe into that area. Keep your hand there if you can. If it gets uncomfortable, you can let it rest.
Now ask the question. Ask your inner guidance and this part of your body what will help. Let the question go. Breathe the phrase in and out into the area.
Now we move into assimilation meditation – let go of the hand, the phrase, the breath practice. We let the energy flow to wherever it needs to flow — deep into all the cells of our being. Maybe to that part that we were working on, maybe somewhere else — but letting it just flow where it needs to flow, without controlling, without directing. Letting ourselves go soft and fluid.
This is a good practice to repeat. Sometimes we receive guidance right away. Other times it arise in our dream state. Sometimes it takes a few days. Sometimes longer.
And, a hint – when you get guidance, it’s best to listen to it and make changes.
I wish you well with this practice. Amin.
